ENTRUSANS™ IDS Daily Operations

The ENTRUSANS™ Intrusion Detection System (IDS) currently executes one scan per day in the early hours of the morning Eastern Time between 2:00 am and 6:00 am.  The exact time will vary depending on the execution times of Beta Participant websites.  The ENTRUSANS Server contacts the ENTRUSANS Client on the website that collects the metadata for all files on the website and returns the data to the ENTRUSANS Server.  The ENTRUSANS Server then compares the metadata returned against the most recent metadata from the previous day.  Any changes found are reported in an email report to the webmaster email address.  That's it for daily operation.  Intrusion detection is based in the interpretation of the reports.  For more details on how the ENTRUSANS system is used to detect intruders see the How to Use ENTRUSANS Change Activity Report. page.
